Pyromellitic dianhydride is white or yellowish crystal. It is soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylformamide, acetone, and other organic solvents, insoluble in diethyl ether, trichloromethane, and benzene. The product mainly functions as raw material for polyimide. It can be used in producing curing matting agent for epoxy resin and cross-linking agent for polyester resin.

Application
PMDA is mainly used to make polyimide film and resin, high temperature resistance electric insulating paint, PVC plasticizer, synthetic resin cross-linking agent and epoxy resin curing agent, powder coating matting agent, phthalocyanine blue dye and PET chain extender for food packaging.
